Imperial College London

Imperial College London is based in the heart of London and is a university that specialises in Science. It is consistently ranked highly in the UK against other Universities and is currently the 4th top University behind Oxbridge and St Andrews, according to the Times Higher Education University Rankings 2015.

The Universities roots can be traced back to the 19th Century and in 1907 the Royal College of Science, the Royal School of Mines and the City & Guilds College were combined to form Imperial College London.

The University is home to three faculties and one school. These are:

  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Medicine
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences
  • Imperial College Business School

Competition for places is strong at Imperial College London, with only 15.3% of applicants becoming enrolled in 2009. High academic standards are expected, for example it is a requirement for hopeful engineering and physics applicants to have achieved an A* grade in A Level Mathematics.

Other than academic buildings throughout London, Imperial College London also operates four gyms, two swimming pools, two sports halls, six music practice rooms and two student bars. For those looking for extra curricular activities, there are also over 300 societies, clubs and projects to choose from.
