Located in Bloomsbury, London, SOAS is the only University in Europe to specialise in Oriental and African studies. The University currently has over 5000 students, 50% of which are from outside of the UK. There are 2 campuses at SAOS, the first being in Bloomsbury, and the second being a 20 minute walk away in Islington.
At SAOS students can find over 350 combinations of undergraduate degrees, and more than 115 postgraduate programmes. The courses are organised into three faculties which are:
- Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Faculty of Languages and Cultures
- Faculty of Law and Social Sciences
The Student’s Union at SAOS run a student bar in the University, two common rooms at the campuses, a snack bar, and a stationary shop. The Union encourage students to become involved with the University by taking part in one of their fifty societies and clubs including sport, politics, and culture.
The University offer student accommodation at two halls of residence, Dinwiddy House and Paul Robeson House. The primary accommodation provided to first year students is Dinwiddy House, located on Pentonville Road, with 510 single en-suite bedrooms. Dinwiddy House is also situated minutes away from King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station, and the campus based in Islington.
