History tells a story of how our world has come to be today. It can explain how and why society is the way it is, and give clues as to how the world will continue to progress and change. You will see many similarities between today’s world and even the most ancient history. You will have opportunities to explore how different countries have been shaped by their histories. As well as this, you will explore how the influence of countries spreads over the years, and what this means for the world.

Accreditation

The accreditation of a degree in history will depend on where you choose to study. It will also depend on the level you are studying at. At postgraduate level, you can expect to be awarded a Master of Arts (MA), or a Master of Research (MRes). Further study awards degrees such as Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Duration

A postgraduate degree will normally take one to two years to complete.

Modules might include Latin, the Falklands war, central European history, and paleography, among others. Assessment methods can include written work, group projects, and a major research project.
