University of Bristol

History

Founded in 1876, the University of Bristol was the first higher education institution in the UK to admit men and women on an equal basis. Today, it is one of the top 10 universities in the UK and 55th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2024).

International applications

The University of Bristol enjoys an international reputation, providing students from more than 150 countries with a high-quality education. Students can apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) for undergraduate courses, and through the University of Bristol website for postgraduate study.

With a comprehensive choice of subjects, Bristol students engage with intellectually challenging courses that encourage independence of mind. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across six faculties – Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences and Law, and Science – as well as interdisciplinary research programmes.

Student life

Bristol Students’ Union supports over 350 societies and clubs covering a wide range of interests, allowing students to take part in sport, music or drama, or enjoy hobbies with new friends. 

At the heart of the campus is the Global Lounge, a cultural hub where students can connect, learn from each other and find out about global opportunities. Regular social events and activities celebrate different cultures and strengthen the university’s diverse community.

The University also provides inclusive support services including wellbeing and mental health support, academic support and healthcare, so every student can make the most of their time at Bristol.
