Health and Social Care Diploma of Higher Education

The Diploma of Higher Education in Health and Social Care provides you with the knowledge, values and skills required to become a competent health and social care practitioner who can work in an integrative environment.

This 240 credit, Level 5 course in Health and Social Care will enable you to progress your qualifications to degree level with automatic entitlement to study our online Level 6 BSc (Hons) Integrative Health and Social Care Top-up degree as long as you are working (paid or voluntary) in the health and social care sector.

You also have the option to exit with a Certificate of Higher Education and Health and Social Care by achieving 120 credits at Level 4.

Entry Requirements For This Course

If you are a school leaver the entry requirements include:

  • A levels (220 UCAS points - excluding General Studies) or equivalent qualifications, such as a BTEC National Diploma, Scottish Highers, etc.
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics (minimum grade C) or equivalent (for example: UDOL’s Certificate of Credit in English for Academic purposes and Certificate of Credit Introduction to Maths in Preparation for Higher Education.
  • We may also accept Access qualifications (with a grade of 22 merits or a distinction)

Paid or voluntary work experience in the health and social care sector (no specific amount of hours). Please note: you must remain in paid or voluntary work experience in the health and social sector for the duration of the course due to the course reflecting on practice skills and knowledge.

If you are aged 21 and over and with relevant work experience (paid or voluntary) the entry requirements are likely to include:

  • Access to an environment where you will be able to apply your skills to achieve the individual module learning outcomes. This does not specifically need to be employment and could include voluntary work.
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics (minimum grade C) or equivalent (for example: UDOL’s Certificate of Credit in English for Academic purposes and Certificate of Credit Introduction to Maths in Preparation for Higher Education.
  • We may also accept Access qualifications (with a grade of 22 merits or a distinction)
