Accounting and Financial Management BA (Hons)
Accounting and financial management plays a major role in all organisations and extends beyond just a series of mathematical techniques and processes. We want to show you the bigger picture, so you can take your career in any direction you choose.

Our course looks at the way in which accounting informs decision-making and the impact of accounting information systems on organisations.

Socially-responsible financial management is also an important part of the course and students explore the impact of financial decisions on societal welfare, the environment and company shareholders.

The first year of the course gives you a broad understanding of accounting and finance. You'll learn the underpinning knowledge and workings of financial markets in a classroom scenario. There are a number of core modules to ensure you cover the necessary accounting and financial management knowledge required by the profession.

In years two and three, you have more flexibility and there are optional modules in topics such as Auditing, Business Intelligence, Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility and Taxation.

Practical skills development is available through our Trading Room which simulates life in the financial markets with professional software from Bloomberg. It's an integral part of the optional modules, Financial Derivatives and Company Analysis and Valuation, and we also run workshops for all Management School students to learn how to use the range of data, analytics and information sources.

You'll be invited to London headquarters for live trading seminars and receive guest lectures from industry professionals.

You'll become familiar with the challenges faced by professional accountants. As your confidence grows, you'll develop your own views on how to approach those challenges.

Some of your modules will cover material from professional accounting examinations.

This course is accredited by CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW and CPA Australia.
