This is the longest standing and most prestigious MSc in Equine Science within the UK, and is available on either a full-time or a part-time basis. Formal teaching by staff from the Institute is complemented by teaching from the Institute of Biological Sciences and external contributors from different institutions within the UK, themselves experts in various areas of equine research. Many of the students also undertake research for their dissertations in association with specialist equine research workers based at veterinary schools, research institutes and the like, utilising links which have been established over a considerable period of time. Besides its normal range of teaching facilities, the Institute has its own stables, horses, outdoor riding school, and new indoor arena. All of these are available for use by students. In addition, there are ample DIY livery facilities, with associated indoor and outdoor riding arenas, for those wishing to bring their own horses to the University.
