MA Irish
The Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies offers a taught modular MA in Irish. Taught modules account for 120 credits, and the dissertation (less than 20,000 words) for a further 60 credits. The dissertation may be submitted at any time between the September following the examinations and one year thereafter. For the taught element of the course students will choose, in consultation with the Professor of Celtic Studies, four modules from among the following (30 credits each): Old Irish I and II, Classical Irish I and II, Modern Irish I, II, III and IV, Irish Philology, Phonology and Morphology of the Celtic languages (including the Celtic languages of the Continent), Comparative Celtic Literature, Celtic Ethnography, Scottish Gaelic.

MPhil Irish
A good degree in Irish or Celtic Studies is required. We welcome students to undertake research on many aspects of Irish or Gaelic Studies. Students may prepare for an MPhil or PhD degree by dissertation under our supervision.

PhD Irish
