Sport & Exercise Science PhD
This course was established to cater for an increasing market for advanced skills in Records Management combined with a firm grasp of archive principles and practises. It was also clear that some students would prefer, and are better suited to, a less historical or manuscript-based training, with greater emphasis on aspects of information management and electronic record keeping. Both courses share core elements in archive administration and records management. The Records Management course is also suitable for applicants from other countries who are involved in (or wish to enter) archive and/or records management-related employment in government, business or corporate administration, or information services, but who do not require skills relating to older historical records of western European origin or Latin documents. This course combines high academic standards with a scientific approach to the management of records, with emphasis on putting theory into practice. The proximity of the National Library of Wales and the Ceredigion Record Office ensure an abundance of original documentary sources and collections for study, together with a substantial body of professional expertise: staff from both make a direct contribution to teaching, as do academic colleagues from other departments of the University.
