Computational Science and Modelling PG Dip
The MSc in Computational Science and Modelling is aimed at science graduates engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics and related disciplines. The programme is practically oriented and aims to provide students with a strong working knowledge of modern mathematical and computational modelling methods and algorithms, as well as the option to study areas such as pattern recognition, neural networks and computational signal processing. It will form a good basis for careers in applied science requiring a balance of mathematical and computational skills for example the Met Office, Environmental Science and Bioinformatics.
The dissertation can address a wide range of research themes within the School such as:

  • Climate and Weather Systems

  • Dynamical Systems and Control

  • Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics

  • Computational Engineering

The structure and delivery of this Masters includes seminars, tutorials, lectures, computer laboratory sessions, project work and a dissertation all aimed at enhancing both technical and transferable skills.

Entry requirements Normally at least a Second Class Honours degree or equivalent in a science or engineering subject. All applications are considered individually on merit.
