The University of Leicester currently ranks 32nd in the Guardian University League tables, whilst the Times Higher Education League Tables rank the institution 20th. The University campus is based just south of the city of Leicester, next to Victoria Park.
The University has many schools and departments and these are split up into four colleges:
- Arts, Humanities and Law
- Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology
- Science and Engineering
- Social Science
Leicester are proud of their outstanding on site facilities which include a 24 hour library, a Union shop and diner, over 180 societies, 02 Academy Leicester, and more than 30 sports clubs. The University is also home to two sports centres that offer fitness classes, swimming pools, saunas, steam room, spa pool and further facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.
Students can find The Oadby Student Village around 2 miles away from the main campus, which is made up of three halls of residence; John Foster Hall, Gilbert Murray and Stamford, and Beaumont and Digby Hall. Each halls of residence offer different facilities ranging from catered to self-catered, and shared bathrooms or en-suite.
Alternatively, there are also 6 other halls of residence based in the City Living area, closer to the University Campus.
