University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is based in Glasgow, Scotland, and was founded in 1796, making it Glasgow’s second oldest University. There is around 15,000 undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University, with students attending from over 100 countries around the world.

The academic courses on offer to undergraduate students are split into four faculties, which are further organised into schools and departments:

  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Strathclyde Business School

The Student’s Union are responsible for many bars and eateries on campus, including the Barony Bar, home to Strathclyde’s student nights, The Yard, a relaxed student bar with pool tables and TV screens, and Vertigo, a lecture theatre that also acts as an exhibition centre and has been used for entertainment evenings such as live music acts.

Students can gain an enhanced university experience by becoming involved with societies and sports clubs at Strathclyde. There is over 130 clubs and societies on offer, with the option of starting a new society of your choice if you can interest 10 people in signing up to it.

The University run 10 halls of residence on campus, and a further two off campus. There are many different types of rooms on offer such as catered and non-catered. Each hall is managed by a security team and residential assistants live on site, making it a safe place for students to live.
