University of Bolton

The University of Bolton is located near the town centre of Bolton, and is close to larger cities such as Manchester and Liverpool. The University dates back to as early as 1824 when it was previously associated with being a Mechanics Institute. Today the institution has around 11,000 students and ranks 105 in the Guardian University League Tables 2016.

There are a range of undergraduate courses available at the University of Bolton. These courses are arranged into six academic groups:

  • Arts, Media and Languages
  • Creative Technologies
  • Engineering, Sports and Sciences
  • Business, Accountancy and Law
  • Education and Psychology
  • Health and Community Studies

The University is home to a sports hall which can be hired for a range of sports activities. They also have a weekly timetable full of activities throughout the day and evening that students can get involved in. Sports classes include Zumba, Table Tennis, Boot camp and Badminton. Students can also join sports clubs including football, basketball, hockey, netball and trampolining.

The University of Bolton provide university accommodation for first year students in their two halls of residences, housing 700 students. The Orlando Village and The Hollins offer self-catering rooms which are close to local amenities in the town centre. For one academic year the cost of accommodation is £2,983, including the cost of your bills and internet.
