University of Cumbria

With campuses located in Cumbria, Lancashire and London, the University of Cumbria is one of the newest institutions in the UK, officially opening in 2007. It is a top 100 university in the UK according to the Guardian 2016 league tables.

Over 10,000 students are enrolled at the University on a range of academic courses, including acting, criminology, education studies, fine art and social work. The University is divided into two faculties.

The two faculties are;

  • Faculty of Education, Arts and Business
  • Faculty of Health and Science

Cumbria’s student’s union is a charity run by students to represent the voices of the 10,000 graduates. There are several groups, such as societies and sports clubs to partake in, including blogging, choir, dance and radio.

Sports clubs vary from football to basketball and athletics, with sports facilities based in both Carlisle and Lancaster.

The University offers halls of residence in Carlisle, London, Lancaster and Ambleside. Various accommodation types are available for first year undergraduates. Costs suit diverse budgets with prices starting from £64.65 per week for a twin room to £110 per week for a single en-suite room.
