Research reputation

In the latest Research Excellent Framework (REF) 2014 UEA came 10th in the UK for the quality of its research outputs and 21st overall out of all mainstream British institutions. The results show that more than 82% of UEA research is classified as either ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, confirming UEA’s position as a premier research institution, committed to making a substantial impact on the global challenges facing society.

Brilliantly placed

The campus is located in a beautiful, green part of Norwich, a city equipped with its own cathedral and medieval history, as well as being voted one of the safest, happiest places to live and work in the UK, and proudly England's first UNESCO City of Literature. It’s just two miles from the heart of the city, which is easily reached by foot, bike or bus.

The stunning Norfolk coast is 1 hour away, and London a swift 2 hours by train. This uniquely-placed University is also part of the Norwich Research Park, one of Europe's biggest concentrations of researchers in the fields of environmental, health and plant science.

Sporting facilities on campus include the Sportspark, which houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool and regularly hosts local and international athletic events. Postgraduate Funding at UEA

Funding for Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research courses is available both from the University and from a number of external schemes. Scholarships, Bursaries and Studentships offered by UEA are normally awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are usually for the duration of the period of study. Learning Resources and Specialist Facilities

Postgraduate students at UEA have access to a range of supportive resources and facilities to assist their studies. The network of professional Student Services offers information, advice, practical help and specialist resources to enable you to take full advantage of the opportunities offered at this advanced level of study.

UEA's Library is open all hours throughout the year, offering access to more than 800,000 volumes of books and journals, a range of electronic resources including major bibliographic and citation databases, an extensive audio-visual collection, plus an inter-lending and document supply service. There are IT hubs across UEA, a high-speed network connecting the whole campus and a wireless network for laptop and mobile access.

The Language Learning support service also provides students with the opportunity to learn to speak another language, with classes from beginner to advanced levels in every language from Arabic to British Sign Language, Mandarin Chinese to Spanish.

Norwich has all the characteristics of a 'university city'; a major commercial and thriving cultural centre, steeped in history yet still a vibrant place to live, shop, and study. Its unique blend of independent stores, small specialist shops, major high street chains and the country's largest six-day open-air market, all set amidst a maze of medieval cobble-stoned lanes and alleys.
