It provides a broad, subject-specific curriculum with the chance tospecialise through a variety of course options and an individual project.Topics for the project cover a variety of industrial applications and areinspired by the consultancy and research activities of academic staff. Theprogramme is run by a team of research-active staff and is supported byworld-class experimental facilities, including the largest concrete slabtesting rig in Europe, geotechnical and hydraulics laboratories, and one of thelargest environmental chambers in the country. This environment will provideyou with unique support and enable you to undertake course-related activities thatinvolve analytical and experimental tasks as well as computer simulations. Applicants should have:

An accredited degree in civil engineering (2.2 or above) or an equivalent qualification.

  • You may also be considered if you do not have a firstdegree but have professional and vocational experience (e.g. incorporatedengineer status) and demonstrate the potential to succeed on the programme.
  •  If you wereeducated in a language other than English and/or in a country where Englishspeakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (witha minimum of 6.0 in each skill).
  •  Prospectivestudents over 21 years of age receive special consideration as maturecandidates.
  • You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in theuse of English.
