The University of Worcester received full university status in 2005, but has roots that date back to 1946 when it was previously named the Emergency Teacher Training College. The new city campus development opened in 2010, giving students new state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of the city.
The University of Worcester offer courses to undergraduate students from 6 academic departments. These are:
- Institute of Education
- Institute of Health and Society
- Institute of Humanities and Creative Arts
- Institute of Science and the Environment
- Institute of Sport and Exercise Science
- Worcester Business School
Worcester have a flexible approach to studying and they are open to students desire to focus their attention on either one subject area, or combine two to create a joint honours degree.
The University offers on campus accommodation for first year students at both of their campuses; St John’s and City. The halls of residences house over 1,000 students each year, with different facilities on offer. The cheapest room is called “Traditional Hall” priced at £89 per week and usually has 8-10 students sharing two bathrooms and one kitchen, with their own private bedrooms and washbasins. The most premium accommodation is “En-Suite Extra” which is priced at £145 per week, offering students a large shared kitchen, and spacious en-suite bedrooms.
