The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) dates back to 1828 when it was formally named the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge. Today, it has a league table ranking of 85 and the main campus is based in the city of Preston. There are a further 3 campuses based in Burnley, Westlakes and Cyprus.
The University offers around 500 undergraduate courses which are organised into 5 colleges. These colleges are:
- College of Business, Law and Applied Social Studies
- College of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
- College of Culture and the Creative Industries
- College of Health and Wellbeing
- College of Science and Technology
The University offers both on campus and off campus accommodation for first year students in their halls of residences, with over 2000 bedrooms available. Halls of accommodation prices start at £79 per week for the most basic amenities including shared bathrooms, and can be as expensive as £107 per week for the most premium room types.
UCLAN’s Student Union runs a wide variety of sports clubs and societies for students to become involved in outside of their academic studies. Students can join societies such as DJ, Burlesque, Circus Skills and Glee Club. Alternatively, if you are more interested in team sports you can become a member of the American Football team, athletics team or cheerleading squad.
