The University of Plymouth prides itself on the excellent facilities it offers its students, and two-thirds of its research is recognised as being ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014).
Plymouth was rated as one of the top 25 universities in the 2018 WhatUni Student Choice Awards, and its Students’ Union ranks in the top 10 of the Student Crowd Students’ Union Awards 2018. The Students’ Union (UPSU) provides a range of social spaces for students, providing food in the day, entertainment at night, and plenty of popular events throughout the year. There are over 100 societies to choose from, covering faith, music, food and debates - so there really is something for everyone.
UPSU is student led and democratic and the high standards have been recognised through the Plymouth Best Bar None Gold Award, NUS Best Bar None Gold Award, NUS Green Impact Excellence, Investors in Volunteers and Investors in People Gold Award.
Sports clubs vary from sailing and volleyball, to kayaking and climbing: utilising the best of what the outstanding surrounding area has to offer. The on-campus fitness suite has the latest equipment and boasts three of the best squash courts in Plymouth.
The University halls are both on and close to campus in the student village, and the dedicated Residence Life team are available to help and advise you.
