Bangor University was founded in 1884 and was described as ‘the best university setting in the UK’, due to its stunning location in Wales nestled between the Snowdonia Mountains and the Menai Strait. The university is ranked within the top 30 in the UK for student satisfaction (The Complete University Guide 2022)*.
The university offer a wide range of subjects which are arranged into three colleges, and further broken down into schools and research institutes. These colleges are:
- College of Arts, Humanities and Business
- College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering
- College of Human Sciences
Students are encouraged to take part in sports clubs and societies at Bangor, with over 150 clubs to choose from including sports clubs such as football, rowing and quidditch. There are also societies that will compliment your academic studies, such as the Law Society, the Geographical Society; religious societies such as the Christian Union and the Islamic Society and societies to compliment your hobbies and interests like comedy, cooking, photography and drama. Bangor’s Students Union has also been ranked in the top 5 in the UK (WhatUni 2022).
Bangor benefits from recent facilities investment’s that include a sports centre which now includes multiple gym rooms, new fitness equipment, multiple sports halls, and a climbing wall. Students can visit Pontio which houses a theatre, studio theatre, cinema and cafe along with the Student Union.
Social life at Bangor is made easy at the Student’s Union; Bangor Academi. The Academi is primarily a nightclub, but also acts as a bar and a shop during the day.
