Games Software Engineering BSc (Hons)

Our newly developed BSc (Hons) Games Software Engineering course is intended for those keen to embark on a career in programming within the video games industry.

Educated by professional practitioners, expert academics and interesting guest lecturers, this degree will provide you with a clear understanding of how to apply programming techniques to modern games creation, whilst developing your knowledge of artificial intelligence, physics, game engines and graphics programming.

Taught in dedicated facilities and using cutting-edge technology, you’ll discover the curriculum has a strong focus on specialist units intended to give you a broad range of software engineering skills that can be put to good use in the context of games programming.

You’ll have the opportunity to take a 30-week work placement in the industry, which you can complete at home or overseas. The experience allows you to place the specialist knowledge and skills acquired on the course in a real world working context. The experience will allow you to create a network of professional contacts, and build your CV, both of which are essential for entering the job market.

Entry Requirements For This Course

For September 2020 entry: The entry requirements for this course are 104 - 120 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM. We will consider all subjects but not accept General Studies (unless accompanied by 2 A Levels or equivalent in appropriate subjects).
