This part-time/flexible course is designed for practicing engineers who are already qualified to HND, FdEng, FdSc or degree level who want to gain the academic qualifications necessary to achieve Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.

Course accreditation 

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to meet in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Entry Requirements For This Course

For September 2025 BEng entry: Foundation degree or HND with Merit or above in a required subject including a Engineering discipline accredited to EngTech or partial IEng.

Applicants for this programme must be employed in a relevant role in the engineering industry.

All applicants who are accepted on the Integrated Master’s programme will be required to complete the BEng (Hons) Engineering part of the programme with an upper second or first class profile in order to continue to the final level of the programme.

Entry to Level 6: students who have successfully completed the FdEng, FdSc Engineering (Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Management or Electronic Design) programmes at Bournemouth & Poole College with a minimum classification of Merit will be eligible to apply for entry with advanced standing to the Level 6 of the MEng (Hons) Engineering programme at Bournemouth University and credited with 120 credits at Level 4 and 120 credits at Level 5.

Additionally, other applicants to Level 6 require either:

  • A FdEng, FdSc or HND with Merit in an engineering discipline accredited to EngTech or partial IEng
  • Academic qualifications that have been approved at Partial IEng/EngTech level through the IED Education and Training Committee or equivalent.
