Entry Requirements For This Course

UCAS points from GCE A Levels or equivalent obtained from: NQF/QCF Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.

Cache L3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.

Level 3 Extended Diploma/Diploma for the Children & Young People’s workforce.

BTEC - BTEC Extended Diploma/Diploma.

Access requirements - Access to HE Diploma.

Extra Information / General Entry Requirements - Please note: Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 2 years experience of working with children and/or young people.

Successful applicants will be expected to be working with children and /or young people in a paid or voluntary capacity at least 8 hours/week, committed to continue working with children and young people and willing to engage in work-based learning and studying in their own time, as well as attending taught sessions at the University. However, applications are encouraged from people who may not have the qualifications listed above.

The Programme Leader will be happy to discuss the requirement of the course and assess prospective students for their suitability based on a combination of qualifications, experience and motivation.

The course allows students to join at different stages of the programme through a system of 'Accreditation of Prior Learning'. Student with previous relevant certificated HE study, and/or considerable experience may be able to claim exemption from specific modules and/or levels. Those with a relevant Foundation Degree or Dip HE can apply to 'Top-Up' to Level 6, and if successfully completed, gain a full BA Hons.

Prior to admission to this course, full-time students requiring the University to arrange placements will be required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check through the University, for which there will be charge.
