Cultural Studies, Media and Journalism BA (Hons)

Our degree is innovative in recognising how media cultures, industries and digital innovations play a huge role in shaping the world in which we live. It offers an excellent theoretical understanding of cultural, media and information products, practices, industries, audiences and institutions in national and global contexts, as well a rigorous training in practical research and creative skills in news media production, analysis and reporting to prepare you for a career in journalism and the creative/culture industries.

Beginning with an overview of different cultural, media, and sociological theories that address the interactions between 'culture', 'media' and 'society' as part of a broader global and historical context.

You will be prepared for the NCTJ exams, studying Reporting, Multimedia Journalism, Media Law, and British Public Affairs. In your final year you study Popular Culture, Media and Society, Digital Culture and a wide variety of options including research methods, sociology, criminology and social policy with options to study Reporting Conflict, Television Production, or Specialist Journalism.
