NMC PIN (this will be checked by our administration team to ensure current registration with the NMC and no restrictions)
Applicants must be must be a registered first level nurse and/or specialist community public health nurse
Applicants must have at least three years’ experience as a practising nurse or specialist community public health nurse and be deemed competent by their employer to undertake the programme.
Of these three years, the year immediately preceding application to the programme must have been in the clinical field in which they intend to prescribe, eg. neonates, mental health. Part-time workers must have practised for a sufficient period to be deemed competent by their employer
Applicants must provide evidence via the Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning (APEL) process of their ability to study at minimum academic level six (degree)
Evidence from employer of their support for them to undertake the preparation programme.- suitability to prescribe (The applicant has been assessed as competent to take a history, undertake a clinical assessment, and diagnose, before being put forward)
Applicants must identify a designated medical practitioner who meets eligibility criteria for medical supervision of nurse prescribers and who has agreed to provide the required term of supervised practice.
The trust non-medical prescribing lead must sign to accept applicants on to the preparation of prescribers education programme.
Satisfactory DBS in last 3 years
Successful completion of a 20 question numeracy exam (80% pass mark)
Students wishing to undertake this programme must demonstrate ability to study at Level 6
