Teesside University was founded in 1930 and is located in Middlesbrough, with a second campus in Darlington. Overall, the university has a league table ranking of 91 according to the Guardian 2016 university league tables.
Just over 18,000 students are enrolled on a variety of courses, such as law, dance, performing arts and digital storytelling. The University has five academic schools.

The student union at Teesside University won the gold award for its social premises in the Best Bar None Awards 2015. The student union bar and hub was developed in 2014, providing shopping, eating and advice facilities.
