Entry Requirements For This Course

Entry requirements for the PGCE Secondary Computer Science with ICT state you must have a 2:2 Honours Degree or above containing at least 50% of relevant subject content, GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C or above or equivalent and minimum 10 days Secondary school experience.It is a government requirement that you take the numeracy and literacy skills tests as part of the application process. You must ensure you have passed them both before the start of the course.Since the field of knowledge underpinning this course is so diverse, it is inevitable that applicants will have gaps in their own knowledge. An audit of strengths and weaknesses will be started prior to interview and monitored throughout the course. Graduates of related disciplines, including Sciences, should not be discouraged from applying although it may be necessary to complete a subject knowledge enhancement course as a condition of acceptance. Applications from those with degrees not in Computer Science with ICT but with appropriate work based experience are also encouraged to apply.Whilst it is desirable that school experience has been gained before applying, this is not essential but applicants would need to demonstrate some awareness of current school practices and curricula.
