Future Intelligent Technologies MSc

The MSc FutureIntelligent Technologies aims to equip students and engineering professionals,through a diverse range of research informed learning, with the skills tomaintain a future-thinking career. The programme goes beyond currenttechnology, looking at predicting future innovation by equipping learners withthe tools to see through media hype and effectively analyse the evolution offuture technologies and engage with these technologies as they emerge. Theprogramme provides the opportunity to explore: future technologies; robotics;cybernetics and intelligent systems; distributed systems; advanced design andergonomics; securing future technologies; and future business thinking, all setwithin a forward thinking context. This programme offers the opportunity toparticipate in a highly motivated intellectual environment with research activetutors and like-minded peers, whilst exploring and engaging with cutting edgefuture technologies.

Whether you'relooking to deepen and diversify your industrial experience, or continue youreducation through an innovative master's degree, this programme provides anideal opportunity to develop your technical and intellectual skills, stayingone step ahead. The Faculty of Engineering and Science accredits its computer,electronics and communications engineering programmes with the Institute ofEngineering Technology, with postgraduate programmes contributing towards thefurther learning requirements of Chartered Engineer status.

The aims of the programme are:

  • To show you how to analyse, design, implement and manage intelligent and future focused technologies and systems in the context of engineering-related issues facing global societies
  • To provide you with the skills to further your career in these areas
  • To support you in understanding the innovative and pioneering approaches in this field and to be able to apply them to the solution of present, near future and future real-world problems in developing novel industrial and commercially-relevant solutions.

Entry Requirements For This Course

Entry requirements

Applicants should have:

A recognised bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (electronics, computing, networking, electrical and electronic engineering, robotics, cybernetics, intelligent systems or an equivalent qualification.

  • Students without a first degree, but with professional and vocational experience (e.g. relevant industrial experience, Incorporated Engineer, Chartered Engineer status) may be considered if they demonstrate the potential to succeed on the programme.
  • Students educated in alanguage other than English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above with noskill less than 5.5.
