Entry Requirements For This Course

Minimum UK entry requirement is a 2.2 Honours degree in a health or social care related subject from an accepted UK University or other Institute of Higher Education; or its international equivalent, as recognised by NARIC and/or by the University’s International Recruitment Office. Candidates with an appropriate professional qualification in health care and normally a minimum of two years post-qualification professional practice will also be considered for entry. Accreditation of prior learning may be considered to a maximum of a third of the credits for the award. Attendance will depend on the modules selected. Details of timetables are available from the module leader. International qualifications Applications from international students are welcome. International qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines. Due to the limited number of clinical placements available we are unable to consider applicants from countries outside the EU. English language qualifications If you need to increase your IELTS score by a grade of 0.5 (eg you need to improve from 6.0 to 6.5) you should attend the six week course. If you need to increase your IELTS score by a grade of 1.0 (eg you need to improve from 5.5 to 6.5) you should attend the ten week course. If you need to increase your IELTS score by a band of 1.5 (eg you need to improve from 4.5 to 6.0) you should attend the 19 week course. If you need to increase your IELTS score by a band of 2.0 (eg you need to improve from 4.5 to 6.5) you should attend the 29 week course. If you need to increase your IELTS score by a band of 2.0 or 2.5 (eg you need to improve from 4.0 to 6.0 or 4.0 to 6.5) you should attend the 40 week course. If you require additional English language training during your study, the University is able to provide tuition and arrange IELTS tests through its English Language Centre, details of which are available at www.liverpool.ac.uk/english-language-centre. All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language, and are required to provide evidence of this. Qualifications accepted by the University include GCSE English; GCE O level English; AS Level English; A Level English Language; IELTS; TOEFL; Cambridge Proficiency etc. Please see www.liv.ac.uk/study/international/countries/ for a full list. Prospective candidates should also note that in addition to academic and English language qualifications, the Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound programme requires students to gain a practice placement in medical ultrasound. This cannot normally be provided by the University and must be arranged and evidenced by the student at the time of application. Any prospective international student must be eligible to work in a practice placement site approved by the Director of Studies. This practice placement must be established prior to formal application.
