We've been at home in the centre of York for nearly 200 years. Our campus, a stone's throw from the city walls, combines Victorian architecture with the modern facilities required to push the boundaries of new possibilities. We've invested more than £40 million in our campus over the last five years, creating a space that helps you reach your potential. State-of-the-art laboratories and learning spaces to inspire, a dedicated Graduate Centre for you to focus on your studies, a 57-acre Sports Park located just 15-minutes from our main campus and communal spaces for you to relax with friends: it all adds up to a special place to study.

Welcome to York
With York city centre on our doorstep there is always something to explore. Whether you go shopping on Europe's oldest street, relax in an independent coffee shop or tour York's famous historical landmarks, there is always more to see. York boasts a different pub for every day of the year, independent cinemas and festivals take place every month so we know you'll love living here as much as we do.
A place to call home
We know it's important to love where you live, that's why we help you find the right accommodation for you whilst studying for your Postgraduate degree.
The majority of our Postgraduate students choose to live in privately rented accommodation whilst they study. We ensure all of our students have access to a high standard of accommodation, and are treated fairly by their landlords, by partaking in YorProperty, the local council's voluntary landlord accreditation scheme.
Our University accommodation includes studio apartments and shared flats or houses. They're all within a 20 minute walk of campus, have WiFi access. Whilst most of our accommodation is rented by Undergraduate students, you can also apply for a place.
49 Clarence Street is a small modern block only available to Postgraduate and Mature students. This accommodation is one of the closest sites to York St John University and only a short walk to Haxby Road Sports Park. Situated directly opposite the library and IT facilities in Fountains Learning Centre, this accommodation is ideal for postgraduate students on intensive courses.
