Situated in the centre of Birmingham, Aston University was founded in 1895 and was one of the first universities to offer work placements during degree courses. It has a league table ranking of 32.
The University has three academic colleges with over 10,000 students studying a wide range of courses, including biology, finance, marketing, mathematics, politics and psychology.
The three colleges are;
- College of Business and Social Sciences
- College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
- College of Health and Life Sciences
Aston University has a student’s union boasting shops, three bars, a hair salon and bookshop. There are over 100 clubs and societies and more than 80% of students are involved in student events.
Aston University is passionate about sports and has an on campus sports centre with a 25m swimming pool, squash courts, two all-weather pitches, dance studios and fitness studio. Away from campus, there is a 45 acre sports facility with bar and catering services. Furthermore, the Athletic Union runs over 35 sports clubs.
First year undergraduates are guaranteed accommodation within a range of halls of residences. Prices are normally between £119 per week for self-catered accommodation and £161 per week for catered housing and en-suite rooms are available for those that require them.
