University of Kent

The University of Kent was founded in 1965 and is situated on 300 acres of land, and is home to over 5,000 students. There are also 2 other sites in Kent, and further postgraduate sites in Athens, Brussels and Paris.

The University has recently climbed 4 places in The Guardian University League tables, to the 16th University in the UK. In 2004 it was also ranked the 80th University in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Kent is split up into 3 main faculties, which are further broken down into schools that are home to a diverse range of courses. These faculties are:

  • Humanities
  • Sciences
  • Social Sciences

When joining the University you will be allocated a “College” which is an academic community where will you live, study and socialise. There are 5 colleges, all of which have residential rooms, study rooms, lecture theatres, and also bars and restaurants.

Outside of teaching time, students at Kent can take advantage of the facilities on site as well as the societies on offer. There is a sports centre for students, which includes tennis and squash courts, a gymnasium, a dance studio, and football pitches. There is also a nightclub on campus called The Venue, with the upstairs area being used as a live music venue, called The Attic.
