Our Accounting & Finance degree will give you an excellent working knowledge of these twin disciplines as well as a crucial grounding in business studies – providing you with the financial expertise, analytical skills, and strategic insight needed to pursue a career in the financial sector.
Top-performing students on this course will have the opportunity to obtain the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business in their final year. We are one of only a few UK universities able to offer this.
One of the key features of this degree is its flexibility; all of our accounting and finance courses share the same first year, giving you flexibility to transfer to another pathway at the end of the first year. You’ll also have the option to study abroad at one of our international partner institutions during the second semester of the second year. Currently, we have partners in Australia, Canada and Europe.
If you opt to include the 30-week placement as part of your course, you’ll gain invaluable workplace experience and can see how everything you’ve learned translates into the real world. You’ll also be creating a useful network of professional contacts at the same time.
What’s more, our course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Charted Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. If that wasn’t enough, because our accounting and finance degrees offer exemptions for accountancy qualifications, upon graduating you may not have to take all the exams required to become a Chartered Accountant.
Foundation year: We have a foundation year option for UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in general business and management required for Accounting & Finance, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the foundation year, you will progress to the full degree.
