The Education: Early Years Teaching and Learning BA (Hons) degree at Kingston University will provide you with real-world experience in Early Years education through taught content and workplace learning/placements. You will develop critical, analytical and transferable skills that employers value.

At Kingston University, we have a long history of delivering work-based learning courses valued by employers. This course can springboard you into employment or progression within a current or new setting whilst developing your skills. 

We will combine your experiences in your workplace or placement with one day a week on campus at Kingston University.

You will be assessed through a variety of assignments and portfolio building. There are no written exams.

Entry Requirements For This Course

Qualifications needed for 2025/26:

UCAS tariff points: 80-96

GCSE/IGCSE English grades 4–9 (C–A*) or equivalent.

The typical requirement for entry for this course is 80–96 UCAS points.

  • A levels: A grade profile of CCC–CDD from any A level subjects.
  • Access to HE: 96–80 UCAS tariff points in a related subject.
  • BTEC: A grade profile of MMM–MMP or above in a related subject.
  • CACHE: An extended diploma grade C or above in a related subject.
  • T level: A T level graded pass with a core component of grace C.
  • Non-tariff: Non-UCAS tariff-based Level 3 qualifications are also considered for entry, such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and other vocational qualifications. These will be assessed upon submission of application.
  • Tariff: Other Level 3 qualifications are accepted for entry, with a minimum of 96–80 UCAS tariff points required. One of the qualifications must be in a related subject.
  • Kingston University is committed to widening participation, and encourages applicants who may not have 'typical' qualifications or experience to contact the Kingston Education Admissions Department for advice and guidance.

To achieve the Graduate Practitioner Status, on completion of the Early Childhood Graduate Competencies, have achieved Level 2 English and Maths qualifications at grade 4 or above, or hold a formally recognised equivalent.
