Leeds Arts University is one of the few independent arts universities in the UK, and the only specialist arts university in the North, offering ten specialist arts degrees at postgraduate level. Students study in a close-knit, diverse and creative community, where they are encouraged and supported to realise their talent, seek out opportunities beyond the University and prepare for a successful creative career.
Courses are tailored to each student and their creative goals, and are taught by staff within the specialist area or industry. Postgraduate students can study on either a full or part-time basis, allowing for them to choose the best option that suits their individual lifestyle and commitments.
Postgraduate students will be supported to develop a practice-led research approach, with courses including both specialist subject modules alongside core modules in research methods and business-related subjects. Students will be supported through a variety of teaching methods including individual supervision, group tutorials, live briefs and project proposals.
Resources are equipped to industry standards, and are run by highly skilled staff who contribute significantly to teaching and have a drop-in facility so students can carry on working in their own time. Postgraduate Students can access a range of specialist facilities by arrangement. Including practical workshops in printmaking, digital print, ceramics and glass, wood, metals and plastics, mac suites, 3D printers and photographic lighting studios.
Leeds Arts University works to maximise students' contact with industry, providing networking and other professional opportunities.
