Portsmouth is the only university to offer Connected Degrees: a three-year course with a flexible fourth year placement. Most courses can be Connected Degrees.
This gives you more time to explore your career choices, and to find the perfect placement. It also means you can stay connected to the same friends throughout your studies. Then glide into professional life, with full support from the University throughout your placement. And if you prefer a placement year at the traditional time, you can opt to do it after year two.
As well as paid placements with employers, UK students can choose a self-employed placement as a traditional sandwich year, getting a start-up or freelance career off the ground with expert support.
Portsmouth achieved the full five-star rating for excellence in the internationally recognised QS World University rankings in 2024, and the highest possible Gold rating in the most recent Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). With transferable skills, industry insight and professional connections, it’s no wonder 94 per cent of Portsmouth graduates are in work or further study (HESA 2021/22).
Here are a few things that make us stand out:
- With a £400m plan for the future of our campus, we’re always improving and updating – from our Centre for Creative and Immersive XR, to our new sustainable Ravelin Sports Centre.
- From facilities that simulate workplaces, to live projects with industry and opportunities for professional placements, you’ll learn practical skills that employers value.
