The University of Chester offers a broad range of high quality single and combined honours undergraduate degrees across a number of specialist sites. Four sites being located close to the town centre, along with Warrington Campus and University Centre Shrewsbury. Originally founded in 1839 as a teacher training college, it later achieved university status in 2005 and presently has a league table ranking of 93 according to the Guardian University League Table 2016.
The University of Chester has over 14,000 students enrolled on various courses, such as business studies, dance, German, interior design and law. There are seven faculties within the University.

- Faculty of Education and Children’s Services
- Faculty of Health and Social Care
- Faculty of Humanities
- Faculty of Life Sciences
- Faculty of Science and Engineering
- Faculty of Social Science
The University of Chester has an active student union with over 100 sports clubs and societies. These include creative writing, music and politics. Popular sports clubs include football, rugby and athletics.
Sports facilities at The University of Chester are well maintained and are available at all campuses. A sports hall, gym, all weather pitch and 25m swimming pool are all based at the Chester Campus. At the Warrington campus, you’ll find a fitness centre, sports track, new football pitch and tennis courts.
Accommodation is available at both Chester and Warrington campuses and all applications are considered. Prices range from around £63 per week for self-catered housing to approximately £157 per week for full board.
